The project consisted of complete interior demolition of the first floor of this historic building in Downtown Frederick. The build-out created six offices, conference room, executive suite, reception area, break room, server and data room and fire-rated, secure file storage area within a tight footprint. To maintain an open feel to the long, narrow space, 12-foot
ceilings and etched glass panels were used to maximize natural light from the front façade. Due to the age of the building, structural reinforcement was required. At the owner’s request, the century-old oak wood flooring was preserved and refurbished and an existing brick wall was exposed. Upgrades to the electrical, fire protection, mechanical and water systems demanded a coordinated effort to minimze disruptions to adjacent businesses.
