Built in 1901, the historic Masonic Temple hadn’t been in regular use for nearly 20 years. This unique structure fell under the purview of Historic District guidelines, which were challenging and adhered to in instances where exterior renovations needed to be concealed. However, everything from abatement to complete removal of original mechanical and electrical systems to extensive demolition of walls not original to the structure were planned, coordinated and completed. Additional steel trusses were added to accommodate loads of the new mechanical system located on the 2nd floor mezzanine. Extensive efforts to preserve much of the original millwork, repair plaster, refinish original wood floors as well as application of modern cosmetic
treatments were combined to create
an updated and dramatic look.
